Giddins Ghana Company Limited (Giddins Innove), and seven other Ghanaian Businesses were selected to participate in the MODE HEIM HANDWERK 21 fair in ESSEN, Germany, a fair that had over 200 companies from all over the world participating.

 

The fair which was made possible by the GIZ under the theme “Strengthening the International competitiveness of Ghanaian Companies with export potential” with funds from the North Rhine -Westphalia was aimed to strengthen the competitiveness of selected companies from Ghana in order to enable them access international markets, gain international visibility and occupy niche markets with non-traditional products.

 

This promising approach by GIZ is to help the companies create jobs and sustainable income opportunities, enabling economic development with positive employment effects. It is thus also an important initiative to reduce structural poverty in Ghana and beyond.

 

Giddins Innove, a beneficiary of Innohub’s AFIDBA Acceleration Program operates in the leather value chain industry where they are predominantly noted for manufacture, distribution and sale of topnotch handmade shoes, slippers, sandals, belt, and bags. The company’s core mission is to sustainably develop the local footwear and leather value chain sector by crafting products that are of high quality, durable, environmentally and user friendly, while creating impact in the community with its manufacturing operations. Giddins Innove is positioned to have 40% of its products made from recycled and sustainable raw materials and also involve populations at the base of the pyramid in its production process.
