AFD Inclusive and Digital Business (AFIDBA), a 6-month accelerator program organized by Innohub offers personalized training and coaching sessions, international visibility, and funding. The program support entrepreneurs who create a more inclusive economy that works for everyone especially the BoP population.

During Cohort 2 of the AFIDBA Program, Innohub offered both in-house and in-person training sessions to participants. Innohub supported these start-ups in refining their business plan and strategy, including financial inclusion and market development. Furthermore, Innohub supported in making their businesses inclusive, scalable and investment ready through coaching and mentoring sessions, workshops, demo pitch and one-on-one sessions.

After an intensive 6-month interaction with Innohub, all 5 start-ups successfully completed the program of which two of the startups; Trisolace Company Limited and Giddins Innove emerged as overall winners to receive funding. The 2 startups were awarded a total of 28,100EUR at an award ceremony organized by the French Development Agency. Donation of the cash fund was led by the French Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Anne Sophie Ave.

Trisolace is a no-waste business that provides its clients with a micro-investment and food growing kit they can see and grow by themselves in the form of snails(superfoods) in a recycled box made from a car tyre and old metal. Giddins Innove trains the vulnerable youth, especially school drop-outs in shoe and bag making and manufactures shoes and bags with carefully selected materials to make its products last longer. The company contributes to sdg13 by recycling and up-cycling waste within communities to avert health implications. Read more here: www.mygiddins.com

This year, call for applications for Cohort 3 was launched in February 2021. Over 120 applications were received, and 10 participants were selected to go through a 5-week bootcamp. Following the Bootcamp, 5 out of a total of the 10 Projects that participated came out successful and have been selected to go through the 6-month acceleration program. The top 5 are as follows:

5. Market Express

After the 6-month acceleration, 2 startups will also be selected and awarded a prize fund.
